The Tata scholarship is fully funded scholarship awarded annually to support the best 20 Indian students to study at Cornell University for the duration of their undergraduate studies .
The Cornell University Tata scholarship is in honor of the late Ratan Tata ’59, B. Arch ’62, who was a Cornell trustee and the chairman of Tata Sons.
Tata Education and Development Trust a philanthropic affiliate of India’s Tata Group provides financial aid of $25 million to Cornell undergraduate students from India.
Indian students from the following program are prefer for selection to receive the Cornell University Tata Scholarship:
- College of Architecture, Art and Planning
- College of Engineering
- Applied Economics and Management major in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business
- Majors across colleges in the biological sciences, physical sciences, and other sciences, as well as the social sciences.

- have attended his/her secondary school in India;
- Be offered admission to study as an undergraduate student at Cornell;
