How much is the Swedish Institute scholarship?

The Swedish Institute scholarship includes the following:

  • Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university each semester.
  • Covers living expenses: SEK 12,000 monthly allowance throughout the study period.
  • A travel grant of SEK 10,000 – 15,000) one-time payment.
  • Membership opportunity to join the SI Network for Global Professionals.
  • Becoming a member of the Sweden Alumni Network after your scholarship period.

What are the requirements for the Swedish Institute scholarship?

The following are the requirements to apply for the Swedish Institute scholarship:

  • Must be a citizen of an eligible country for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals.
  • Should apply for a masterโ€™s programme that is eligible for the SI scholarship;โ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions;โ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Have work experience.
  • Have quality leadership experience from a current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.

Swedish Institute Scholarships Application Dates

  • Apply to Swedish masterโ€™s programmes through University Admissions (16th October 2026 โ€“ 15th January 2026).
  • Swedish Institute Scholarship application documents and eligible master programmes are published in Mid-November 2026.
  • Application portal for the Swedish Institute Scholarship opens for two weeks (9th – 25th February, 2027).
  • University admission announcement. (26th March, 2026).
  • Swedish Institute Scholarship announcement (23rd April, 2027).


How to Apply for Swedish Institute Scholarship

  • You first need to apply for a master’s programme: Submit your masterโ€™s application, you will receive an application numberโ€ฏconsisting of eight digits. You will need the application number to apply for the Swedish institute scholarship application. You can apply for up to 4 masterโ€™s programmes.โ€ฏย 
  • Curriculum Vitae
    Proof of work and leadership experienceโ€ฏ

  • Two letters of referencesโ€ฏโ€ฏย 
  • Photocopy of your valid passport/National ID cardย 
  • Motivation (Submit a short video presentation).
